I want to take the opportunity to thank you, as readers, for contributing to an incredible year at The Simon Leadership Alliance. You have been instrumental in supporting me to bring leadership, success and extraordinary results to the world.
You have had the rigor to be exceptionally honest with yourself, dig deep, challenge your own capacity, and ask difficult, and sometimes impossible, questions. You have achieved results you never thought possible.
You know that what I ask of my readers and my clients is nothing less than enormous. In our partnership to provoke extraordinary results, I ask my you to generate the courage, honesty, and integrity that most people rarely realize they have.
I ask that you face the impossible 100 foot wave, that you battle it day after day, and that you sit back and enjoy the ride. I want to acknowledge your courage in choosing to take the ride, to get beat up by the wave, and to choose to continue the work and ask for more.
It was because of you that in 2004, I supported the leadership development of partners, CEOs, and presidents at brokerage, insurance, and international technology companies. I supported entrepreneurs in significantly growing their companies.
I had the pleasure to work with leaders at Grubb & Ellis/BRE Commercial, Gateway, Qualcomm, Axesstel, ACI Commercial, Foley & Lardner, JW Tumbles, NextLevel Internet, Metro Flooring, 1HomeRebate.com, and London American General Agency.
Together we grew sales several-fold, created high-performance teams, engaged in uncomfortable conversations that generated extraordinary results, and developed winning strategic business plans.
Todd Salovey, theatrical director and associate professor at UCSD, and I created the transformational leadership program, Beyond Charisma®. Through a mixture of leadership and theatrical practices, we “threw” a group of high-potential brokers together and created a committed, high-performance, and results-driven team. We developed the brokers’ competencies to be accountable, to listen, to enroll, to have fierce conversations, to present at major conferences, to build teams, to be trusted advisors, and to transform their company’s culture. The program supported these brokers in enrolling their company to create its first, bottoms-up strategic plan.
I led several team building programs, including geoteaming® which developed senior executives’ ability to engage in uncomfortable conversations and commit to new levels of accountability and communication. I also led a dynamic sales program, “The Science of Clients,” that helped salespeople identify their own behavioral styles, the styles of their clients, and taught them how to modify their behavior to create better relationships with their clients.
In 2005, I will be teaming up with current alliance partners and will be bringing on seasoned experts in the areas of leadership, teams, and rainmaking. This will support my clients to grow their businesses and their teams, to develop rigor in their leadership, to enroll others in creating extraordinary results, and to create greater profitability.
Simon Vetter and I will co-lead a year-long program at the Pacific Athletic Club in “Becoming a Rainmaker in 2005.” Simon and I will lead entrepreneurs and service providers to develop their personal brand, their networking skills, their ability to create a referral-based business, and to create the systems necessary to automatically serve their client base.
Our Beyond Charisma® program for 2005 will support our clients in developing their skills in strategy deployment, fierce conversations, coaching, and presentations. We will integrate martial arts into the program to develop the traits of intention, precision, confidence, integrity, and commitment.
The new-year is nearly upon us. For many, 2005 will be a continuation of your commitment to live according to the intentions you set out for yourself in 2004. For others, 2005 will be the beginning of challenging yourself to live at a new level of integrity and achieve the results you have never thought possible.
Wherever you are, that is exactly where you are supposed to be. I challenge you all to spend the last week of this year to complete the following:
(1) Clarify the results you will achieve next year
(2) Clarify the actions you will take to get there
(3) Clarify the beliefs that will support your actions and your results
Write them down, share them with someone you care about, and refer to them often. Make 2005 a year of intention, integrity, and commitment.
Thank you again for doing this “work” and for making my profession as a coach, teacher, and facilitator so satisfying and rewarding.
As many of you know, 2004 was an extraordinary year for my family, as our newest team member, Sam, was born in April. My wife Debbie, my team, and I thank you for an incredible year. May your holidays and 2005 be a year of abundance, joy, prosperity, and extraordinary results.
